Wisconsin River Cruises:

Geocaching: The Rhinelander area has over 400 geocaches located within a 15 mile radius. The Rhinelander Chamber of Commerce also sponsors the Great Northwood's Treasure Hunt. so take the family and experience the fun and excitement of geocaching in the Rhinelander area. Golf Courses:

Northwood Golf Course: Rhinelander, This course was cut out of the woods, so there is only one fairway visible at any one time. The course was rated as the 4th best in the state by the United States Golf Association. This design includes two signature holes, each featuring island greens. A new log clubhouse opened in 1988. This is a 18 hole course built in 1989, designed by Don Herfort. The greens are bent grass and the fairways are bluegrass. The dress code is shirt and shoes are required. Pinewood Golf Course and Country Club: Located in Harshaw Pinewood Country Club is a public golf facility on 600 beautiful acres
of the most scenic land in the Northwoods.

Camp 10 Ski n Snowboard:
Open early December - Mid March. Daytime skiing 9:30 - 4:15 pm. Open Skate times: June 27-July 1 3:45-5:15 Fee 3$/session/July 11, 13-15 3:30-5pm Fee 3$/session/July 12 3:30-5pm Fee 3$/session Open skate is for the public and all RIA members and learn to play hockey/learn to skate children. There will be no sticks or pucks.

Lac du Flambeau's George W. Brown, Jr. Ojibwe Museum and Cultural Center offers visitor tours, videos, and beautiful dioramas depicting the four seasons of Ojibwe life as it has been lived here for centuries.

Rhinelander Logging Museum: One of Rhinelander's main attractions with displays of century old logging memorabilia, a blacksmith shop, cook shanty and bunkhouse, narrow gauge steam engine, and much more. Bring the kids and come to the logging museum to see how the name 'lumberjack' came about. The museum is the oldest and most authentic museum in the Midwest. A great way to start your Northwood's vacation. Admission is free, however donations are welcomed. More info

Rhinelander School Museum: The one-room school was built in the early 1900's in the Town of Newbolt. The school building has been restored so that today's children and adults can see what school was like in the rural areas years ago. More info

CCC Museum: CCC stands for Civilian Conservation Corps. The museum provides a fascinating glimpse of the CCC work camp experience by using photographs, personal memorabilia, uniforms, work tools, emblems, jewelry, papers, and an actual barracks replica. More info

Outdoors Display: The visitor's can see a variety of early logging equipment, including Thunder Lake's No. 5 narrow gauge locomotive, President Jack Mylrea's private car, steam-powered snow snakes used to haul sleds of logs, a turn table, Big Wheels to haul logs to stream or rails and a road icier.

Rhinelander Railroad Museum: Welcome to the Rhinelander Railroad Museum and Model Railroad Layout! Come see The Depot, The Model Railroad Display, The Railroad Museum, and The Locomotive. These are just a few of the many attractions to see and experience at the Rhinelander Railroad Museum. More info

Northwoods Children Museum: The Northwoods Children's Museum located in Eagle River is a dynamic educational facility based on the idea that children learn best by doing, not viewing. The Museum provides hands-on exhibits and programs that make learning fun. The Museum is open year round. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, hours are 10:00 am to 5:00 PM, Monday through Saturday and Sunday. Northwoods Wildlife Center: The mission of the Northwoods Wildlife center is to care for injured and orphaned wildlife. Visitors are welcome. Guided tours begin every half hour. Peck's Wildwood Wildlife Park & Nature Center: Looking for an unforgettable family adventure? Visit the one and only Northwoods zoo. Bearskin State Park Trail: The Bearskin State Park Trail consists of 18 miles of abandoned railroad grade. It stretches between Minocqua and County High K in Oneida County. More info
Bearskin & Hiawatha State Trail: Two rail trails total 25 miles: Hiawatha Tail runs 6 miles north from Tomahawk, Bearskin Trail 18 miles from County Road K to Minocqua. More info

Area Airport: Rhinelander/Oneida County Airport: Located in North Central Wisconsin, two miles west of the City of Rhinelander, on the north side of U.S. Highway 8. Our Airport is the largest airport serving Oneida and the surrounding counties, and a sizable portion of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Parking is available at $5.00 per calendar day. Waswagoning: Built on 20 acres along the shore of beautiful Moving Cloud Lake on the Lac du Flambeau Indian Reservation, Was-Swa-Goning was the Ojibwe name of our whole area. The French name of our whole area. The French fur traders called it Lac du Flambeau (Lake of Fire) when they saw the torches on the lakes as the Ojibwe speared fish at night.
